Krav Maga is the martial art of Israeli Self Defense. I always wanted to try a martial art, but when I was finally old enough to refuse the tutus my mother tried to put me in, I felt like I was too old to learn a martial art. At 25, I decided to try Krav Maga, because you're learning self-defense from Day 1. Don't get me wrong; the instructors repeat that the best way to win a fight is to not get into one, but I feel safer knowing that if I needed to, I could defend myself a little better than I could 6 months ago. Other girls join for fitness or appearance reasons (it's a great workout,) and/or personal and emotional reasons (knowing I can throw a mean cross brightens my smile some days.) Whatever reason motivates you, I definitely think it's worth trying. After all, even if you only take the one free lesson with me, you'll walk out of there knowing at least one self-defense move that you probably didn't know before you walked into the room.
