Relatively Normal Guy into Dark Art/Music Looking for Friends.
So, long story short, I recently left my girlfriend of some 6 years, and things in the relationship went in such a way that I've essentially lost the few friends that I had here. I've only lived in the city for roughly 7 years, so I never had much of a chance to make friends in that time anyway. me to choose a sex when posting this, so I clicked that I'm looking for women, but any gender is fine. I'm not looking for a relationship right now. The solitude of living alone with no friends is becoming a bit overwhelming. Why I'm looking here: I view Cincinnati as something of a cultural black hole. I have a great deal of interests that could be considered European in nature, mostly artistic, but also philosophical, traditional, even political. As such, I have no idea where I would even go to meet people like myself. It's to find anyone here who can even name off a classical painter and one of their works, let alone a philosopher, or any level of music that is aligned with my interests. I say " ", but in reality, it has proven impossible in the last few weeks. About me: I'm the owner of a prominent music / art / culture 'zine with some 20 writers under my belt and ten + years of existence. I'm 28, male, and currently living in Kentucky. I'm responsible, I have my own house, a good job, and a car. I'm a musician though I don't have much interest in being in bands these days. I'm teaching myself cello, but I play drums, guitar, and some piano (largely out of practice because of the relationship, admittedly). As mentioned, I love art and music. In terms of art, I'm into classic painters, especially Caravaggio, but I love modern surrealists like Zdzislaw Beksinski as well. I read a variety of literature, mostly non-fiction, and I listen to a variety of music as well. I'm primarily into neofolk and black metal, anything that showcases an ideology that could be considered " -modern" in nature. I'm into a lot of down-tempo, melancholic music as well. For the sake of namedropping for those interests, projects that I'm particularly fond of include: (NEOFOLK) :Of the Wand and the Moon:, Current 93, Nature Organisation, Backworld, Invictus, Forseti, Belborn, Werkraum, Axis, Death in , Kinit Her, Wreathes, Sangre de Muerdago, of Youth, Osewoudt, Neutral. (METAL / ROCK): Emperor, Ihsahn, Darkthrone, Dark Funeral, Sargeist, Horna, Agalloch, , Primordial, Bekhira, Empyrium, Green , and literally hundreds of others. I love the country, I love the forests, and I love hiking and being outside. I don't mind the city, it just happens to be the engine that drives everything that I find myself at odds with in this world. I'm not a misanthropist -- I enjoy the company of people, I am a warm person. I consider myself a Heathen / Pagan, I wear a Mjollnir around my neck, and I'm extremely proud of this. While most of my contemporaries are admittedly radical in nature politiy, I am about as MODERATE as they come. I believe in , understanding, and good debate. Honor is of the utmost importance to me in a world that it in the name of progress. Lastly, I'm a little out of shape after six years of overt normalcy and stagnation, but I've been running a + every day for the past month and am slowly but surely getting back to my normal self. It's important to me for my body to reflect the shape of my mind. A druid at heart in that sense, I suppose. I'd love to meet someone with similar interests, but I realize that's a tall order in this city. If you find yourself identifying with me on any level, please don't hesitate to get in touch. At this point, I'd just be happy to have a drink and a conversation with someone somewhere. Museum, bar, gallery, coffee shop, you name it. I'm not overly familiar with downtown, but I'm happy to explore to meet the right people. I'm a social drinker, non-smoker, but neither bothers me. I have no interest in addicts or outright though. Plenty of available to those who ask. Anyone who already knows me will know me from the above information anyway -- I think I'm one of the more unique people in the area.
